Kathy Isaacs

March 2, 2011 in Devotional

We regret to inform you of the passing of Kathy Isaacs. Below is a statement released from Bill Isaacs, husband and administrative bishop of Ohio:

Kathy Isaacs

Update: Kathy’s memorial in Cleveland will be live streamed beginning at 7pm EST on Monday, March 7th. It will be available at www.ohiocog.com.

Kathy Lanier Isaacs went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:30 am EST from her home in Akron, Ohio. Her 2 year struggle with cancer has now ended. It is an amazing thing to watch eternal life enter a room and with a mixture of sadness, sorrow, joy and relief, our family witnessed the passing from this life to a new life for our beloved Kathy. Her faith, tenacity to live and courage in the face of persistent pain is a reminder of her strength. We will miss her greatly and anticipate our reunion in heaven.

My family would like to express its deepest gratitude to our Church of God family. Your expressions of love and compassion toward us during the past two years have been a constant strength and we have been humbled and overwhelmed by the outpouring that has been focused on us.

In lieu of flowers the family and I would humbly request that you consider a contribution to the Kathy Isaacs Legacy Scholarship that has been established at Lee University for the children of bi-vocational pastors and missionaries. Further, a scholarship fund for Peniel Ministries is available for consideration as well. It is our feeling these two ministries, which were dear to Kathy’s heart, will allow her life and ministry to continue to the coming generations. A website has been established at www.rememberingkathy.org and we are asking friends and colleagues to offer remembrances and stories that can be reproduced for her grandchildren.

Again, thank you for loving us and for caring about us during this season of our life.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced later. Communications will notify you as soon as this information becomes available.

Please continue to keep the Isaacs family in your prayers.

Updated - Kathy’s funeral(s) will be:

Friday, March 4th at 1st Church of Nazarene in Canton, Ohio 4-6:30pm and service begins at 7pm
Monday, March 7th at North Cleveland Church of God in Cleveland, TN 4-6:30pm and service begins at 7pm.

February 19, 2011 in Community Sites

We regularly have new articles published on our blogs – be sure not to miss anything. One good way to KNOW when something has been published is to hit the “NEWS FEED” button in the menu under the heading.

Don't Do This!

Latest: “Cars Powered by Sugar?” This is an easy read posed in a light humor – check it out! This is a new article on a new blog – “Stuff From Ray’s Head.”

Also, (from the same blog), a report on Ray’s recent shoulder surgery. Find it here: http://ray.cdntoday.com/2011/02/almost-recovered/

Notice!

February 17, 2011 in Admin

We are always changing!

Change is intended to improve on the existing. I trust that YOU will consider the changes we have implemented as improvements. If not, please tell us in the comments.

New Look:

We converted the general look of the site to a more conventional “blog” with the most recent articles appearing at the top and the older articles below. This differs from the previous “News Feed” (like what you find on Facebook.) Hopefully, the articles will be easier to find and read.

The old news feed is available at the top on the menu under our site name, “News Feed“. Be sure to check it each time you visit to see what is happening across the community.

Invite Others:

All logged in users will notice a new ”widget” at the top of the left sidebar…  titled, ”Invite your friends.” Please enter the email addresses of those you think would benefit from joining our CDN Community. You can enter three addresses at a time. Next time, you can add three more. This is the best way to help CDN grow! BTW, the block is NOT displayed if you are not logged in.

NewsNewsLetter:

We plan to publish a (more-or-less) weekly newsletter. This email newsletter will provide a summary of the latest posts on the major sites across the CDN Today Community (not just this home site). To sign up, just fill in the blocks on the widget. It is located on the left sidebar. Note, sign-up requires that you confirm your subscription by clicking on a link in the email you will receive. We are still working out the details so it may be a couple weeks until the first edition but go ahead and sign up now to get it hot of the [Word]Press!

Other News:

I have begun publishing my personal blog, “Ray’s Head – All the stuff that isn’t worth putting any where else.” You can visit it here: http://ray.cdntoday.com – if you want to waste some time <grin>.

Be sure to tell us if you like or dislike this new arrangement. Also, we welcome your suggestions for other changes.

New Site – Pen of a Ready Writer

February 13, 2011 in Community Sites

Welcome to “The Pen of a Ready Writer”!

Pen of a Ready WriterThanks to Pastor John Harper who moved his blog into the CDN Today Community. John previously published on the Blogger platform. However, the CDN Today uses the WordPress platform which is now the most popular blogging platform available. (WordPress is the most popular blogging platform with 54,283 of the top million sites on the Internet using it.)

John pastors an Assembly of God Church in Warden, WA. We met about 12 years ago when he served as my associate pastor at Robert, LA. He is working on his doctorate and writing in his “spare” time! John and Jeanette have become our true friends over the years.

Events in Prophecy

February 10, 2011 in Community Sites

The rebellion/uprising in Egypt and other Mideast countries reminds that each day brings the world closer to Armageddon!

I am not an alarmist but I do believe that Jesus will return for the true church very soon.

Prophecy TimelineIf you are wondering where we are on God’s timetable, the print available here may help. It presents (in sequence) the major events in Bible prophecy and Scripture references to support the reasoning.

Highly recommended!

Preaching in the style of Jesus

February 3, 2011 in Community Sites

I have been sharing ministry helps via computers for the past 25 years.

In the years since then I have tried to improve both the quality of the content and the availability. One major change was when I developed the Chief Shepherd Blog (CS) on January 1, 2008.

Jesus Teaching

Today, I was looking back at those first posts. Although I had published articles in other venues, here is the first article that I published on CS:  http://chiefshepherd.com/2008/01/jesus-style/

It compares the stereo-typical view of a pastor behind a pulpit and the prevailing view of Jesus sitting on a mountain and teaching. Take a look and leave a comment.
